Position Purpose/Objective:

This position will help implement database solutions for an enterprise financial services application (TALISYS) serving multiple clients and quality assurance environments. Responsible for maintaining databases, optimizing performance, and managing system resources, database security, and data protection. Duties:

  • Support multiple database environments containing thousands of database objects.
  • Install, configure, upgrade and patch Microsoft® SQL Server® on standalone or cluster production boxes for a financial services system.
  • Perform database population, synchronization, backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Configure, schedule, and implement database maintenance jobs (database backup, integrity check, DBCC, re-index, etc.).
  • Maintain database operational procedure documentation.
  • Maintain security procedures and administrative controls; monitor user access to databases.
  • Execute major and minor database upgrades to the enterprise application.
  • Work with QA and Client Support to resolve client issues.
  • Monitor SQL jobs and troubleshoot failures.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance of database stored procedures.
  • Continuous self-education with database technology and brokerage industry.
  • Conform to a regulated change control approval process in adherence to SOC1 and SOC2 standards.
  • On Call Rotation; On Site Client Installs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.


  • Required
    • Expert knowledge in MS SQL database administration as demonstrated by no less than 3 years’ experience working as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator
    • Skilled in MS SQL, including reading stored procedures and functions.
    • Mandatory experience with SQL 2008 with preferred experience also in SQL 2017.
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Preferred
    • Experience with SSIS and SSAS
    • Experience with Red Gate (SQL Compare, Data Compare), Idera Tools (Diagnostic Manager, Compliance Manager), and SQL Server Data Tools.
    • MCSE: Data Platform certification
    • VMWARE experience

Computer Skills:

  • Type 25 words a minute for data and configuration entry
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft® Office® including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Project
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require eight (8) or more hours of sitting at a work station/desk while completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other business office machines and equipment. duties may also involve: occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store supplies or various office equipment, as directed. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required.
