The Senior Software Engineer designs, implements, and develops enterprise applications using C#, Visual Basic, WPF, WCF, C++ and SQL using the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The Senior Software Engineer will be well versed in object oriented programming concepts and test driven development methodologies.

Duties:

  • Create high quality, innovative, efficient software adhering to technical standards.
  • Analyze business requirements and lead the creation and discussion of technical software design.
  • Perform complex coding in multiple languages including advanced SQL.
  • Create work break-down structures including estimates for assigned development tasks.
  • Create and maintain software documentation.
  • Maintain and support existing software applications.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team throughout all phases of the SDLC.
  • Work with Client Support to resolve high severity client issues off-site or on.
  • Mentor Entry Level Software Engineers.
    • Provide assistance and guidance to other Engineers by participating in activities such as:
    • Troubleshooting of complex issues.
    • Reviewing work-break down structures and estimates.
    • Performing code reviews.
    • Providing feedback.
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies for development purposes.
  • Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of multiple Talisys modules and the Talisys Architecture.
  • Provide technical support for client installations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by continuous self-education in the areas of software technology and the brokerage industry.
  • On-call rotation.May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of industry experience developing complex software solutions is required.
  • Highly skilled in MS SQL, including reading query plans and writing stored procedures and functions. Experience with SQL Profiler is a plus.
  • Highly skilled in multiple languages and technologies that Talisys utilizes (VB6, C#, C++, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, .Net 4.0 Framework, XML, WCF) Nice to haves are Angular, ngrx/redux, TypeScript.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience.
  • Ability to apply technical standards, principles, theories and techniques.
  • Experience and ability to teach and instruct others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines

EOE Physical/Environmental Characteristics:

Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require eight (8) or more hours of sitting at a work station/desk while completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other business office machines and equipment. duties may also involve: occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store supplies or various office equipment, as directed. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required.
