Position Purpose/Objective:

 

Plans, coordinates, directs and manages the ISS Department in order to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient computer operations to meet current and future decision making requirements by working closely with all departments to leverage hardware and software to create systems that enable Talisys to meet corporate goals. As a director, the incumbent provides company-wide direction in areas of policy and planning for data processing, network, security and related functions (communication, office systems, interplant connectivity, etc.). Oversee the streamlined operation of the IT department and ensure it aligns with business objectives. This department includes the hardware, software (both Talisys and other), network, digital security, communications, infrastructure systems, problem reporting (Client Support), internal operations, and data protection, as well as special projects as assigned. Responsible for Talisys corporate digital security, to include firewalls and anti-virus. Keep Talisys corporate data safe from external and/or internal attack or theft. As a manager, should provide feedback to employees on their contribution and provide coaching regarding development needs related to current positions and to prepare for future opportunities.

Duties:

Strategy & Planning Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information processing and communication technologies, to include network, security, hardware, software, telecommunication, entire systems and the Talisys infrastructure.  Manage IT departmental operational and strategic planning.

Acquisition & Deployment – Responsible for the purchase, licensing, asset management and deployment of Talisys systems and networks.

Operational Management -

  • Ensure department is aligned with business processes, tactical planning and strategic vision.
  • Assist executive team in corporate strategy and create departmental strategy and yearly plans.
  • Verify company policies and strategies are being followed and work is progressing to ensure the mission and goals of Talisys are achieved.
  • Develop and review budgets for IT and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines and objectives.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all hardware/software based on corporate and departmental needs.
  • Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels and upgrade requirements.
  • Benchmark, analyze, create metrics, report on and make recommendations for the improvement of the infrastructure and systems.
  • Define and communicate service level agreements, milestones and resource allocation to all stakeholders.
  • Manage all hardware, software and systems upgrades and ensure comply with corporate requirements.
  • Direct research on technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities and procurement.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including security, disaster recovery, purchasing and service provision.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end-users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Oversee and lead the responsible areas and verify all tasks and missions are being completed.
  • Manage large projects, including purchase, install, configuration of large systems both for Talisys and customer.
  • Constantly strive for improvement in all responsible areas.
  • Serve as liaison for all areas to end users, customers and other Talisys personnel.
  • Usable, stable network with minimal outages to infrastructure while maintaining budget and projections.
  • Ensures MIS delivers superior solutions and service to clients.
  • Provides senior level resolution to issues.
  • Creates an environment where innovators can successfully achieve professional career path goals.

Network & Security

  • Design/Implement/Maintain all aspects of network, including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, VPN access, inter-site and client connectivity, DNS, DHCP.
  • Design/Implement/Maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including inter-forest and domain trusts, sites configuration, group policy and security.
  • Ensure the uptime and proper configuration of infrastructure related items, such as listed above.
  • Ensure Patching and Antivirus status of servers and workstations.
  • Regulates access to computer data files, monitors data file use, and updates computer security files.
  • Assists in the planning, communication, testing, and implementation of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Assigns, documents, and maintains computer login codes, passwords, and access profiles for software applications, network access, and telecommunications systems.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding data and computer security, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain Talisys firewalls and other layered corporate defense systems.
  • Transports or coordinates transport of backup and archive data files to storage facilities.
  • Installs security identification and apparatus to computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Monitors, applies and supervises patch and software updates to machines.
  • Test and audit computer system to evaluate effectiveness of security.
  • Maintains data-encryption software programs and keys.
  • Schedules and runs data backup and archiving functions.
  • Modifies security files to add, modify, or delete user’s access.
  • In depth understanding of TCP/IP, VPN technologies, OSI model, switching/routing, network architecture, network/data security
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years technical/network experience
  • Five years computer support
  • 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft networks
  • Administrative experience with Extreme Networks, Checkpoint, Microsoft products, VMWare, Mcafee,
  • May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications:

  • Four year technical (computer science or information systems) degree; Master’s degree in a technical or Business Administration preferred.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, telecommunications, infrastructure systems such as Exchange, storage, security and standards.
  • 10 years related experience managing and/or directing an IT operation.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development.
  • Experience in systems design
  • Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting and business office operations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

EOE Physical/Environmental Characteristics:

Essential duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require eight (8) or more hours of sitting at a work station/desk while completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other business office machines and equipment. duties may also involve: occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds to stack, store supplies or various office equipment, as directed. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required.
